We shall have our meals at Apoka Safari lodge and begin our incredible game Drive around Kidepo Valley National park. This will introduce us to the wild and bring us closer than before to the wild stories of the People and wildlife in Kidepo. After this short drive, we head back to the camp for dinner.
Walking Safari – Kidepo Valley offers some rewarding experiences while on a walking safari, we shall have one of the most rewarding bush walks into Kidepo and after 3hrs we have our incredible Bush breakfast. And some bush relaxing time
Explore the Narus Valley by Safari Jeep – We get on our safari jeeps and embark on some of the incredible wild game drives around this beautiful vast national park, get up close and personal to some of the vast plains of this savannah, in search of the wild predators in Kidepo – Wildlife in Kidepo is abundant. Lions, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, zebra (this is Uganda’s only park where giraffe and zebra are found together), possibly Africa’s largest herds of buffalo, hartebeest, waterbuck, bushbuck, warthog…the list is endless. Better still, much of it can be seen from the privacy of your veranda or your outdoor bathtub, but the best way to see the wildlife is up close: on foot, or in one of our open-top Landcruisers.
Karamajong Culture – Spend time in a Karamojong village learning about their traditional way of life. Enjoy a sundowner in the arms of a massive fig tree? Sit and watch a breeding herd of elephants frolicking in the mud as we bid farewell to this incredible wild remote area.
Transfer by road to Kidepo Airstrip (+/- 30 minutes) for a flight to Murchison falls National Park (13h45/14h45). Evening game drive.
Today, set out on a game drive along the northern banks of the Nile in the heart of Murchison Falls National Park. You may see giraffes, buffalo, elephants, warthogs, leopards, lions, and antelopes. This afternoon, embark on a boat cruise to the base of the falls, watching for hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and birds on the river’s banks.
Named after the dramatic Murchison Falls, which were christened by Sir Samuel Baker; Uganda’s Murchison Falls National Park is the country’s largest protected wildlife sanctuary. A wonderful tapestry of natural landscapes awaits visitors to the park. Here, the mighty Nile River bisects flourishing savannahs, flanked by lush riverine woodlands, before bursting through a chasm in the Rift Valley escarpment to form the raging Murchison Falls. Wildlife enthusiasts can expect to see great pods of hippos and immense rafts of crocodiles in-and-around the Nile as well as an array of exceptional water birds. Other fascinating wildlife includes the rare Rothschild giraffe, lion, various antelope species, buffalo, leopard, and spotted hyena.
Transfer by road to Bugungu Airstrip (+/- 30 minutes) for a flight to Semliki National reserve (13h45/14h45). Have an evening game drive.
Sunrise boat trip on Lake Albert to view the endangered Shoebill. Evening sundowner game activity.
Lake Albert is one of the great lakes and is located in the great rift valley. You will explore and discover the lake’s hidden gems by going on a boat ride in search of the elusive shoebill
Make your way out of the Rift Valley through the Kigezi Highlands and onto the mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This afternoon at your camp, get down with the chef’s remarkable recipe for your dinner and get deep into the African way of life and dining
Spend three days tracking endangered mountain gorillas, spending up to an hour among them each day. See mothers keeping infants close as they knucklewalk on three limbs. Watch scampering toddlers reined in by an attentive father, whose job is to protect his family. When you encounter a mountain gorilla in the wild, there is no mistaking the bond that exists between primates and man — and no escaping the poignant fact these creatures lie on the brink of extinction.
Fly to Entebbe and return to your hotel, where a dayroom awaits until your international flight home.
