DAY 1 : NAIROBI | ARRIVAL AT JOMO KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by our customer care representative who will transfer you to the Tamarind Tree Hotel for check-in and an overnight stay. Booking is on a bed-and-breakfast basis. Situated 160 km south of the equator, Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and boasts one of the finest climates in the world. This modern, cosmopolitan city is the regional headquarters for many African and Indian Ocean businesses. With delegates attracted here from around the world, they come for the friendliness of the people, the modern hotel facilities, and the vast array of fascinating options available throughout the city. Although the ‘City in the Sun’ is relatively young by global standards, it has a fascinating history capturing explorers, missionaries, wars, cultural diversity politics, etc, each leaving their mark on the city center in some way.

DAY 2 : SHELDRICK ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE | TRANSFER FROM NAIROBI TO SHELDRICK ELEPHANT ORPHANAGE

Start your exploration of this beautiful country as you visit Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage situated on the outskirts of Nairobi. The Sanctuary is run by Daphne Sheldrick and is set in the grounds of her house. Here you will see the orphaned animals and meet the people who handle and care for these animals. It’s an interesting excursion and the team who run the orphanage are always willing to spend time answering any questions guests may have to ask.  Later, visit a nature center run by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife. An elevated observation walkway allows you to get face-to-face with 18-foot-tall Rothschild’s giraffes. Lunch will be at Karen Blixen Coffee Gardens then later return to your hotel for an overnight stay.

DAY 3 : AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK | TRANSFER TO AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

After your breakfast, you will be met by our customer care representative at the hotel lobby where you will be given a brief overview of your program before handing you over to your driver guide with whom you will depart for the Amboseli National Park to arrive in time for check-in and lunch at the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge. You will then spend the afternoon at leisure before going for an evening game drive till dusk when you return to your lodge. Secluded within a grove of acacia trees, Amboseli Serena Lodge looks out over the golden Savannah plains, with uninterrupted views of the mountain itself. The lodge setting is magnificent with the park boasting more big games than almost anywhere else in Africa. Amboseli Serena Lodge is a luxury safari lodge located in the Amboseli National Park in Kenya. The lodge is situated in a prime location, nestled in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, and offers stunning views of the mountain and the surrounding savannah. The lodge features a range of accommodation options, including traditional African rondavels and luxury suites. The rooms are designed to blend in with the natural surroundings and feature local materials and decor. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities such as en-suite bathrooms, mosquito nets, and private balconies.

DAY 4 : AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK| GAME VIEWING

Today, you will spend the whole day in the Amboseli National Park with both morning and evening game drives.  In between, you will have an option of visiting local Masai villages which will enable you to get the chance to interact and learn about the colorful culture of this nomadic pastoralist community. Amboseli sits on the lower slopes of mighty Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa’s highest – whose peak lies across the border in Tanzania. It is quite an experience to see Kilimanjaro hovering above the clouds in the early morning. The animal pictures arising against the dramatic backdrop of the mountain will thrill the photography enthusiast. Amboseli is renowned for its huge elephant herds. You will also see buffalo, black rhino, zebra, wildebeest, and other plain animals.

DAY 5 : OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY| TRANSFER FROM AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK TO OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY

After your breakfast, you will depart for Nanyuki (with a brief stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way) to the privately owned 24,000-acre reserve, Ol Pejeta Conservancy where your drive ends and another adventure begins at your luxurious tented camp with magnificent views of Mt. Kenya. On arrival, you will have a brief evening game drive en route to the Sweetwaters Serena Camp for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay. A sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole, Sweetwaters Tented Camp is in a class of its own. Abounding with wildlife, unfettered by the more rigorous strictures of the Kenyan National Parks, and designed to offer a charming blend of under canvas ambiance and uncompromising luxury, Sweetwaters Tented Camp has long been the preferred retreat of wilderness and safari lovers alike. Built-in the 1970s, the camp’s main building was originally the residence of the ranch manager.

DAY 6 : OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY | RHINO TRACKING | GAME VIEWING

Morning and afternoon game viewing drive within the conservancy. One of only four private wildlife reserves in Kenya, your under-canvas experience includes wildlife drives in search of the ‘Big Five’. Watch a parade of elephants, giraffes, zebra, and impala come to drink at the camp’s floodlit waterhole and saltlick. Optional activities abound, you may choose to go on a night drive in search of nocturnal species, go on a nature walk, or join a rhino patrol with experienced armed rangers to find and monitor black rhinos. During your stay here, you will also visit the 200-acre Chimpanzee sanctuary that has been set up here. Although chimps are not indigenous to Kenya, the aim of the project, initiated by Lonrho East Africa, Kenya Wildlife Services, and the Jane Goodall Institute, was to set up a colony where chimps could be introduced, rehabilitated, and taught to fend for themselves in an area similar to their natural living conditions. Priority is given to orphaned and abused chimps. The Sanctuary currently has 27 chimps, including two babies born in the Sanctuary. There is also a new Visitor’s Information Center at Morani’s Boma. While here, you will be treated to a guided walking safari. At an optional cost, you can enjoy camel safaris and horseback riding.

DAY 7 : LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK | TRANSFER FROM OL PEJETA CONSERVANCY TO LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK| BIRD WATCHING | GAME VIEWING

Following breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park which is one of the most famous of the Great Rift Valley lakes and home to a shifting population of over one million flamingos. You arrive in time for check-in and lunch at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge. You will then spend the afternoon at leisure before proceeding for the evening game drive around the lake till dusk when you return to your lodge. Lake Nakuru’s claim to fame is anchored on its flamingos and the over 400 species of birds found here. The lake itself is a soda lake on the floor of the Rift Valley. The sight of at times millions of flamingos is quite spectacular. From a distance, the lake appears ringed in pink. The Lake has also earned a reputation as an important haven for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Lions, waterbuck, buffalo, and baboons are all residents here.

DAY 8 : MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE | TRANSFER FROM LAKE NAKURU TO MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE | GAME VIEWING

After breakfast, depart to Masai Mara arriving in time for check-in and lunch at the Loyk Luxury Mara Camp. Enjoy an afternoon game-viewing drive before returning to your camp later as the sun sets for dinner and overnight. The Masai Mara National Reserve is in the southwestern part of Kenya and forms part of the greater ecosystem that encompasses the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The Masai Mara is one of the best-known and most visited reserves in Africa. The park is surrounded by concession areas and tribal lands of the Masai tribespeople. These are unfenced from the Mara and act as a buffer zone for the National Park and form part of the migration area. The Masai Mara consists of open savannah, rolling grasslands, and undulating hills. July to September sees the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle coming from the plains of the Serengeti. Driven by dry conditions in the Serengeti and led by lightning and thunder to the north, huge herds of mammals cross the Tanzanian border and rivers to reach the Mara’s grasslands.

DAY 9 : MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE | GAME VIEWING | BIRD WATCHING

You will have breakfast and then start with a morning game drive in the Masai Mara Reserve, also known as the “Jewel of Africa,” a site with one of the largest and most spectacular animal migrations in the world. The reserve is inhabited by many of Africa’s most popular wild animals, including lion, cheetah, elephant, leopard, black rhino, and hippo. There are also over 500 resident species of birds in the park including ostrich, larks, and sunbirds as well as the lovely Lilac-breasted Roller. One can also take part in flying over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon provided at extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing an abundant game afloat in a balloon is an unforgettable experience

DAY 10 : MASAI MARA NATIONAL GAME RESERVE | VISITING MASAI COMMUNITY | GAME VIEWING

You will have breakfast and then start with a morning game drive in the Masai Mara Reserve,  a site with one of the largest and most spectacular animal migrations in the world. The reserve is inhabited by many of Africa’s most popular wild animals, including lion, cheetah, elephant, leopard, black rhino, and hippo. After your lunch break, you will have an opportunity to visit the Masai community where you will learn and enjoy their local ways of living.  You will later be transferred back to the lodge through the park for an evening game drive.

DAY 11 : NAIROBI | DEPARTURE| TRANSFER TO JOMO KENYATTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

After breakfast at the lodge, you will depart for Nairobi where you will arrive in time for a farewell lunch at the renowned Carnivore Restaurant. The Carnivore is the ultimate ‘Beast of a Feast’. A variety of meat including ostrich, crocodile, and camel, is roasted over charcoal and carved at your table. Delicious side dishes and an exceptional array of sauces complement this fixed-price feast that also includes soup, a selection of desserts, and Kenyan coffee. Set in attractive tropical gardens, the service and the décor are outstanding. The Carnivore since its inception has played host to over 2 million customers from across the globe including numerous celebrities. The Carnivore visitor’s book reads like a global who is who! Whole joints of meat – legs of lamb and pork, ostrich, rumps of beef, sirloins, racks of lamb, spare ribs, sausages, chicken wings, skewered kidneys, even crocodile, and other tasty morsels – are roasted on traditional Masai swords over a huge, spectacular charcoal pit that dominates the entrance of the restaurant. After your lunch, proceed to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your evening departure flight home or your onward travel.
