This Family Adventure Safari, you witness some action-packed adventures in the wild and spend your nights in some of the most classic camps in Africa from history in the great wildlife roaming regions.
Your Journey at a glance
Arrive in Nairobi and transfer to the Eka Hotel for the check. Thereafter, you will meet remarkable African species in two special settings. Visit the Giraffe Center, where you may hand-feed endangered Rothschild giraffes from a platform that brings you to eye level with these majestic giants. At Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, watch young elephants at play with attentive keepers, who explain the process of reintroducing the elephants into the wild.
Depart for Amboseli National Park, famous for its big game and views of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. After lunch at your lodge and, perhaps, a lesson in spear throwing with your Child Activity Coordinator, it’s time for a thrilling safari. Roll out through acacia woodlands, freshwater marshes, and open plains in search of elephants, zebra, and wildebeest. The next day, discover more of this wildlife haven on additional game drives, with majestic Kilimanjaro as an inspiring background.
Drive from Kenya into Tanzania, stopping in Arusha for lunch before proceeding with the drive to arrive at Ngorongoro Lions Paws Luxury Camp, perched on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. A UNESCO World Heritage Site formed by the collapse of a volcano in the distant past, Ngorongoro Crater is home to an incredible concentration of wildlife, including one of the highest densities of lions. Tonight, take in sweeping views from your private balcony.
Take breakfast at leisure then descend into the crater for a full-day crater tour with packed lunches, which shall be taken at the floor of the crater.
The Ngorongoro Crater is often called ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ‘8th Natural Wonder of the World,’ a visit to the crater is a main drawcard for tourists coming to Tanzania and a definite world-class attraction. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is home to Ngorongoro Crater. It was formed some 2.5 million years ago from a volcanic mountain sinking due to inactivity and was initially thought to be higher than Tanzania’s famous Kilimanjaro.
The crater has evolved into a unique and integral part of Tanzania’s ecosystem. The crater is actually a caldera, measures 22.5 km across and the rim walls stand 600m high. Views from within and from the rim are breathtaking (as can be seen from the picture). The crater houses 30,000 animals and a large variety of birds, which rarely move from the area due to the availability of water through wet and dry seasons.
Later in the afternoon, you will depart for the Serengeti National Park where you will arrive in time for an evening
Spend the day exploring the vast park rich with abundant wildlife. You also visit the northern part of the park – Seronera with an opportunity of seeing the annual wildebeest migration.
Serengeti is Africa’s most famous and Tanzania’s largest park covering 14,736 sq km and adjoining the Masai Mara National reserve in Kenya. With a wildebeest population of about 2 million and several other hoofed species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, topi, Grants gazelle, Kongoni, Eland, Kirk’s dik dik, klipspringer, roan, Oryx, oribi, waterbuck, buffalo, giraffe and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, golden jackals and bat-eared foxes. Elephants are relatively scarce and the few remaining black rhinoceros are restricted to the Moru Koppies area.
Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing with ostrich and kori bustards being common, a variety of larks, finches, and raptors can be seen but the most distinctive small bird is the lilac-breasted roller.
Transfer by air and overland to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. Check in to your luxury camp near the Mara River. Later, enjoy an exciting afternoon game drive. Explore this magnificent savanna country for the next two days on morning and afternoon game drives, searching for giraffes, hippos, and hyenas. Look forward to a family-friendly sundowner experience, sipping refreshing mocktails and cocktails from a surprise scenic location. Back at camp, your Child Activity Coordinator leads young guests on bush treasure hunts and teaches the craft of fire-making. A Family Foodie Experience offers an opportunity to join your chef and prepare regionally inspired dishes together. Later, experience local life when you opt to visit with students at a nearby primary school (when in session). Tonight, celebrate with a farewell dinner.
Fly to Nairobi and enjoy a reserved day room at Eka Hotel. Transfer to the airport and depart.
