Central Kenya, East Africa

Why you should explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is located in central Kenya, within the Laikipia region between the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare ranges. It forms part of Kenya’s northern safari circuit and features a mix of open plains, acacia woodland, and riverine habitats that support a wide variety of wildlife.

The conservancy is especially known for its strong conservation efforts, particularly as a leading sanctuary for black rhinos and the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world. It is also one of the few places in Kenya where visitors can see chimpanzees, housed in a dedicated sanctuary. This combination makes Ol Pejeta one of the most unique and conservation-focused safari destinations in East Africa.

Ol Pejeta is home to a wide range of wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and numerous antelope species. It also offers diverse safari experiences beyond standard game drives, such as night drives, guided walks, and behind-the-scenes conservation visits, providing a more interactive and varied safari experience.

Everything you need to know

Before you go

Tourist visas can be bought in advance via the embassy or consulate in your country or simply purchased upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport or at any overland border.

Photos are not required and a single entry tourist visa costs US$ 50 per person for up to 90 days stay in Uganda. If you are planning to combine Uganda with a visit to Rwanda or Kenya it is recommendable to request for the East African Tourist Visa instead of a single entry visa. This special visa costs US$100 per person and allows a 90-days multiple entry to Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya. Regretfully, Tanzania is not (yet) a member of the East African community and therefore not part of this special visa arrangement.
